Discover the Brompton G Line: The Most Versatile Bike in the World
Coming 2025
We are thrilled to introduce the newest member of the Brompton line up; the G Line! While the non-electric G Line won't be available until spring 2025, but we are now accepting pre-orders! Please give us a call if you'd like to place a pre-order.
So what separates the G Line from the rest of the Brompton line up? The biggest difference has to be the wheels. For the first time, Brompton has gone away from their signature 16" wheels in favor of larger 20" wheels. If you spend much time digging through Brompton rabbit holes on the internet, you may have come across 20" Brompton conversion kits from Ben Kinetics or Eerder Metaal, so the idea has been out for quite some time but it's great to see it coming straight from the source! The larger wheels open up the door to riding on surfaces such as gravel paths, asphalt and well maintained off-road routes. Not only are the wheels bigger and the tires wider, but the handlebars are also wider, giving the G Line a ride-feel that's akin to a bike with full size wheels.
Sizing is a bit different on the G Line than the other Brompton lines. There are three sizes for the G Line; small, medium, and large. While the main frame is identical on all three of these sizes, they vary in terms of their reach and stack (see sizing chart below). Additionally, each size comes with a different length seatpost for different rider heights; standard, extended, and telescopic.
Brompton has also taken a new approach to the gearing on the G Line, equipping it with an 8-speed Shimano Alfine internally geared hub (IGH). Here at J.C. Lind Bike Co., we LOVE IGH's because they are superbly low-maintenance since the gearing system is protected from water, mud, and impact; making them ideal for daily use.
One of my personal favorite features about the new G Line is that we now have mounting points for a bottle cage on a Brompton; an ideal feature feature for long-distance commuters and adventurous riders. The mounting point is thoughtfully and conveniently located on the handlebar stem so the rider has easy access while riding. When folded, the mounting points are on the outside of the fold so your bottle cage doesn't damage the bike during the folding process.
If you already own a Brompton and want to use your Brompton bags, no sweat! They use the same front carrier block across all lines.
One upgrade that we have always highly recommended to our Brompton customers is ergonomic grips (Ergon). No need to upgrade grips on the G Line, since they come stock with ergonomic grips!
If you have questions about the G Line or you're looking to place a pre-order, please feel free to give us a call or text at (312) 643-1670, or pay us a visit! We're always happy to chat Brompton.
