Brompton's new Electric P Line is about 4lbs lighter than the Electric C Line, making it even more portable! The largest weight savings is from the titanium Advanced Rear Frame. Not only does the titanium on the rear frame cut a lot of weight (compared to steel) but also the rear frame's new 4-speed derailleur does too. As much as we like internal gear hubs, they are, unfortunately, heavier. Two other notable upgrades to the P Line are: (1) its new, larger, more responsive suspension block that stiffens up the rear frame to increase pedaling efficiency and (2) the new rear dropouts that allow you to remove the rear wheel quickly and easily without futzing with any of the drivetrain parts.

As part of the Class 1 e-Bike category, the Brompton Electric P Line provides assistance only while pedaling. The maximum assisted speed is 15mph with an average range of 20-45 miles; you can use your own pedal power to ride faster and further, too. Anytime you are riding and do not require pedal assistance, you can simply turn it off and ride it just like a normal Brompton with nearly zero rolling resistance from the motor.

The Brompton Electric was developed in collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering - experts in Formula One & Formula E motorsports racing. The electric assist system is a custom 250W front hub motor powered by a 300Wh battery. To regulate speed and make sure this extra power translates into a smooth riding experience, the bike continually analyzes data from two sensors: one in the bottom bracket that measures the rider’s cadence and power and one within the motor that measures the speed of the bike.

The battery pack is cleverly integrated inside the Essential bag that is included with the bike. Like traditional Brompton luggage, the Essential bag attaches to the front frame of the bike so it doesn't impact stability while you steer. Removable with just one click, it's easy to carry the folded bike in one hand and the battery bag over your opposite shoulder. This is particularly useful for multi-modal commuters who regularly bring their bike on public transport.

The Essential bag is 1.5L with some additional space for the charging cable and other small items. You can also opt to increase your storage with the City bag - an available accessory that has room for larger items like a laptop.

Just like the original Brompton, the Brompton Electric P Line folds within 20 seconds into a shape roughly 24" x 24" x 12", all while providing a ride that is as comfortable as you'd expect from a normal (non-folding) bike.

The number of potential advantages this packable bike can grant is staggering. If you're concerned about bike theft and also live in a small apartment, it's a bike you can easily bring and store inside with you (and carry up the stairs if need be!). If you have a lengthy commute which is a tangled mess of transfers from bus to train to bus, riding the Brompton can cut down on complexity, allowing you to ride part of the way and stow the folded bike easily on a train or bus. If you live in a place where weather changes and you dislike riding in inclement weather, the Brompton lets you ride when it's nice and easily take the bike home with you in a carpool with a friend or coworker, a taxi, a bus, or a train. The list goes on, but you get the idea. The Brompton is nearly infinitely versatile.

The Brompton Electric P Line is available in two colors: Midnight Black and Storm Grey. There are two handlebar options: a mid rise and a high rise bar.

This model is a Brompton Electric P Line Urban with Roller Rack High Handlebar, and the color is Midnight Black.

The Urban has 4 speeds, achieved via a proprietary 4-speed derailleur, which provides a gear range similar to the 3-speed hub that comes standard on the C Line Utility. Two flat-bar style brake levers control a pair of road style caliper rim brakes. The right brake lever has an attached bell.

As with most of the bikes we sell, this model comes with fenders. Its tires are a pair of Continental Contact Urbans, a folding tire that balances puncture protection, weight, grip, and comfort for the urban environment.

The saddle included is Brompton's superlight saddle with chromoly rails, carbon reinforced base and lightweight padding. Also included is a 25.4mm Quadlock mount and adaptor that allows you to easily use your phone and the Brompton Electric app - on IOS or Android - to control your power mode, maximize battery life, extend your range and more. You can even charge your phone as you ride with the battery pack USB port. A separate, compatible phone case is required to use the Quadlock mount.
