Riese & Müller bikes are highly customizable and can be configured in a number of different ways. Here is a link to the Riese & Müller website where you can begin your very own configuration of this bike. It is not possible to complete a purchase of this bike on our website. In some cases we do have inventory in-store available to sell; in most cases Riese & Müller bikes will need to be custom ordered with approximately 1-4 months of lead time.
The Packster 70 is Riese & Müller’s revision of the family cargo bike, having made several leaps forward in design and function. The frame design has a large and deep cargo bed, giving ample elbow and leg-room to the kids. The bike's ergonomics and aesthetics are streamlined by the incorporation of internal cable-routing. The Packster 70 features a rigid aluminum frame and comes with a front suspension fork with 70mm of travel. Some other components worth highlighting are the quick-release adjustable stem, which allows riders of different heights to raise or lower the handlebars with ease--an ideal feature for families. The seatpost height of the Packster is also easily adjustable with a quick release lever.
The double-walled and eyeletted alloy rims give the bike a stout foundation, especially when paired with the durable Schwalbe Big Ben Plus tires. The wheels have hydraulic disc brakes installed, for optimum stopping power, even in slippery conditions with heavy loads. Riese & Müller has outfitted the Packster 70 with Gates CDX Carbon Belt Drive for the quietest and lowest-maintenance drivetrain available. Add to that the option of an Enviolo N380 Continuously Variable Transmission gear hub or the new Enviolo Automatiq (automatic shifting-just like a car) and you have a family cargo bike that incorporates the most advanced and convenient 21st century technology.
Bosch provides the motor, display, and battery--the entire e-system--for the Packster 70. It comes with Bosch’s Cargo Line motor--the most powerful eBike motor ever produced by Bosch. This motor provides 85Nm of torque and up to 400% pedal assistance. The Packster 70 is a Class 1 eBike, meaning its motor provides assistance only while the rider is pedaling, and will stop providing assistance once the bike’s speed reaches 20 mph.
The Packster 70 can pack an industry-leading 1250Wh-worth of batteries. Housed in the base of the storage box to keep the center of gravity low and stable, the DualBattery option gives the Packster 70 a range that can outlast virtually any other family cargo bike. The consumer has the option of either a single Bosch Powertube 625 Wh battery, a 625 Wh battery that is DualBattery ready, or a pair of 625 Wh Bosch Powertube batteries. This choice lets the rider select the battery option which will give them the range they desire, to span the city, the suburb, and beyond, even with cargo. Lastly, a stable of Bosch displays are compatible with the Packster. Availability of display choices may vary depending on which Packster 70 model you choose.
The cargo box on the Packster 70 is constructed from EPP (expanded polypropylene) foam, a lightweight material superior to the common EPS (expanded polystyrene) in regard to its environmental impact. The standard double child seat is made of 100% recycled material, features 5-point seat-belts, and can accommodate two children up to 10 years old, or one occupant up to 5’5” tall (1.65m). Riese & Müller also manufactures a reclined, rear-facing baby seat as an option, as well as an auxiliary child seat which mounts in the front of the cargo box, facing the other two occupants, allowing for a total of 3 passengers. A rear cargo rack is also an option, as well as a rain canopy complete with windows to keep passengers dry.
