Abus Mobile Security began in 1924 when August Bremicker and his sons started making padlocks in the cellar of their home in Volmarstein, Germany. They went on to become one of the leaders in locks for bikes and mopeds when they invented the first U-lock in 1971. Since then, their locks have continued to win design awards. Abus uses a method of steel-hardening that gives most of their locks a high strength-to-weight ratio. They also manufacture their locks with the ability to be "keyed-alike," which customers can order specially so that multiple locks can all be opened with the same key (this is great for families who might be using locks interchangeably). Lastly, the sheer variety of locks Abus makes, be they U-locks, chains, padlocks, or otherwise, gives us options that are suitable for our diverse selection of bikes.
